Helping Teens Discover Confidence, Healing, and Their Authentic Self

Hi, I’m Andrea — an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor who believes every teenager deserves to feel heard, understood, and accepted for who they are. I also believe teens do their best when they feel safe, understood, and accepted — and that parents deserve that same compassion and support.

If you’re here because you’re worried about your teen, you’re not alone. Whether they’re struggling with anxiety, depression, family conflict, school stress, self-esteem, trauma, or simply trying to figure out who they are, it can be heartbreaking to watch your child struggle while feeling unsure how to help. The good news is that you’ve already taken an important first step. I’m here to help your teen heal, grow, and build confidence while supporting your family along the way.

My Experience — As a Therapist, Educator, and Parent

My passion for working with teens is deeply personal. My own adolescence was filled with challenges. I experienced family conflict, depression, struggles in school, low self-esteem, and periods of drug use before finding my own path toward healing and adulthood. Those experiences allow me to connect with teens from a place of genuine empathy because I remember what it feels like to question where you belong and wonder if life will ever get easier.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years as a Waldorf educator, giving me a deep understanding of adolescent development both inside and outside the classroom. Today, I’m also the mother of two children in their twenties, and I’ve experienced firsthand the joys and challenges of raising teenagers as they navigated friendships, disappointments, identity, college, and the transition into adulthood.

These experiences have shaped how I approach therapy—with compassion, patience, and a deep respect for every teen’s unique journey.

Why Teens Connect With Me

Most teenagers don’t come to therapy because they’re excited about it—and I completely understand that. My first priority is creating a space where they feel safe enough to be themselves without fear of judgment, pressure, or criticism.

Therapy isn’t about lectures or telling teens what they should do. It’s about helping them better understand themselves, process difficult emotions, build confidence, and recognize the strengths they already possess. Whether we’re talking about friendships, family relationships, anxiety, identity, or life’s many challenges, I strive to create an environment where teens feel heard, respected, and genuinely understood.

What Parents Can Expect

Parenting a teenager can be one of life’s greatest joys—and one of its greatest challenges. When your child is struggling, it’s easy to wonder if you’re doing enough or if you’ve somehow gotten it wrong. My approach is rooted in compassion, not blame.

I’ll partner with you while honoring the trust and confidentiality that allows therapy to be effective. My goal is to help you better understand what’s happening beneath the surface, strengthen your relationship with your teen, and identify practical ways to support their healing and growth at home.

This isn’t just about helping your teen feel better—it’s about helping your entire family reconnect, communicate more effectively, and move forward together.

My Approach

Every teenager has their own story, strengths, and pace for healing, which is why I tailor therapy to meet each teen’s unique needs. My approach is warm, collaborative, trauma-informed, and grounded in evidence-based practices that foster lasting change.

Some of the approaches I use include:

  • Attachment-Based Therapy — strengthening relationships, emotional security, and healthy connection.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) — helping teens recognize unhelpful thought patterns and develop healthier coping strategies.
  • Trauma-Informed Therapy — helping teens heal from difficult life experiences with safety, compassion, and understanding.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) — an evidence-based therapy that helps teens process traumatic or distressing experiences and reduce the emotional impact of painful memories
  • Real, Honest Conversations — creating a trusting relationship where teens feel safe exploring who they are without shame or judgment.

Why I Do This Work

My journey into this profession has been shaped by both my personal experiences and my years working with young people. I know how powerful it can be for a teenager to have someone who truly sees them, believes in them, and helps them discover strengths they may not yet recognize in themselves.

It is a privilege to walk alongside teens and families during some of life’s most difficult seasons. I admire the courage it takes for parents to reach out for help, and I don’t take that responsibility lightly.

One of my favorite passages from The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran reminds us that our children come through us, not from us, and that they are uniquely their own. I believe our role isn’t to shape them into who we think they should become, but to help them discover who they already are.

What I Want You to Know

Your teen is capable of healing, growing, and building a meaningful future—even if things feel overwhelming right now. With the right support, they can develop confidence, resilience, healthier relationships, and a stronger understanding of themselves.

You don’t have to navigate this alone. I’d be honored to walk alongside your teen—and your family—as you move toward healing, hope, and lasting change.
