Helping Teens Heal, Grow, and Reclaim Their Sense of Self

Hi, I’m Alyssa — an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist passionate about helping teens navigate life’s challenges, build confidence, and rediscover who they are.

If you’re here because your teen is struggling with anxiety, mood changes, or feeling lost and disconnected  you’re not alone. Watching your child suffer and not knowing how to help can be heartbreaking. The good news? Reaching out is the first step toward healing  and I’m here to help your teen (and your family) move forward.

My Experience — Supporting Teens Through Life’s Hardest Moments

I’ve spent years working with children and teens across a variety of settings, helping them find strength and hope in the face of adversity.

My background includes extensive trauma-informed work with survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking.

I’ve supported teens dealing with anxiety, depression, identity exploration, self-esteem issues, and relational challenges.

This depth of experience allows me to hold space for even the most difficult emotions and conversations with sensitivity, compassion, and care.

Why Teens Connect With Me

Most teens don’t want a therapist who “talks at” them, they want someone real, who listens without judgment and helps them feel seen.

My clients describe my style as warm, empowering, and calm, with a touch of humor that helps break the ice. Some sessions are about untangling tough emotions or processing painful experiences. Others focus on learning practical tools  coping skills, emotional regulation, and communication strategies.

Whether we’re talking about school stress, friendships, family conflict, or self-identity, I create a space where your teen can show up exactly as they are no filters, no pressure.

What Parents Can Expect

I know how hard it is to watch your teen struggle and feel shut out. My goal is to bridge that gap to help your teen feel supported while keeping you informed in ways that build trust and understanding.

You can expect me to:

  • Offer your teen a safe space to process emotions and develop healthy coping tools

  • Keep you updated on progress and themes (without breaking your teen’s trust)

  • Equip you with insight and strategies to support your child at home

This isn’t just about helping your teen feel better, it’s about helping your family reconnect and move forward together.

My Approach

Therapy is most effective when it’s tailored to the individual. I blend evidence-based practices with a trauma-informed, compassionate approach designed to meet each teen where they are.

Some of the tools I use include:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – to challenge anxious or negative thoughts and build healthier patterns

  • Mindfulness & Somatic Techniques – to help teens regulate emotions and feel more grounded in their bodies

  • Trauma-Informed Practices – to create safety and healing after painful experiences

  • Motivational Interviewing & Solution-Focused Strategies – to encourage self-confidence and goal setting

  • Social-Emotional Learning & Psychoeducation – to give teens practical tools for managing real-world challenges

Why I Do This Work

My journey to becoming a therapist has been deeply personal and meaningful. I believe every teenager deserves a place where they feel respected, valued, and understood especially when life feels confusing or overwhelming.

My mission is to help teens discover their voice, recognize their strengths, and build healthy, lasting relationships  with themselves and with others.

If you’re ready to help your teen start healing and growing, I’d be honored to walk alongside your family every step of the way

What I Want You to Know

Your teen is capable of healing  even if right now they feel lost, stuck, or shut down. With the right support, they can learn to manage their emotions, rebuild confidence, and reconnect with the people who love them most.

Every step of therapy is about helping your teen feel seen, valued, and understood — and helping you feel more connected and supported as a parent. Healing takes time, but it’s absolutely possible.

You don’t have to carry this alone. Together, we can help your teen move from surviving to truly thriving  and help your family find peace, understanding, and connection again.
